One of the most populated places in Guadalupe Nuevo is situated at the Street of Bario Visaya. At the corner of the houses, you can find group of mothers looking after their young ones which are playing everywhere. One weekend, we visited the place and informed the parents that Sumulong Baptist Church-Makati was offering a free Vacation Bible School for ages 3 to 12-year-old. In the midst of our promotion, the common comment I heard from the mothers were, “That’s a great program for the children they will surely learn good things about God. Chidren of this age are bad-mannered and hard-headed”. I just thought, “What happen to the children of today? Why at their young age they look impure, lost, and filled with wordly thoughts”. Is the world that we livein corrupted their pure minds? Or we that supposed to train and guide them towards the way they should go mislead them. He said: “Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6).

I always told my eight 8-year-old nephews, that God made everything. One night, while were having a star gazing, I asked him. Jaykee, who made the stars? He answered me back, “Si God, sapagkat Siya po ang makapangyarihan sa lahat” (God made everything because He is powerful). The moment, I heard it I praise God.
Together let us encourage children to grow in Jesus Christ and give praise to God because children of today, leader of tomorrow”. But how? I noticed that kids are naturally curious, adventurous and always willing to try new things. If it’s not risky and whenever it is possible, let us involved them on our daily activities at home, in our community and mostly at the Church. Remember Jesus said: Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these” (Matthew 19:14).

  1. Kids should really be spiritually prepared to face the real world, and the best way to do that would be to make them participate in Sunday Schools or Bible studies. Our homes should also be a conducive training ground for them.

  2. The only way we can somehow safeguard kids is by building a good foundation early in life and by spending more time with them, guiding them, and showing them love.

  3. I guess it is because of the environment why kids of today's generation are disrespectful and knows how to curse. The little one was engaged in religious activities last summer. With this he had a memorable summer as he plays Constantine..:)

  4. As a mom with kids I'm grateful we live near our church because my children can participate in all of their activities. My eldest, Z, is involved in their Sunday school, flag dance every service, choir for special occasions. I like the idea that he's growing up in the house of God with other families who have the same beliefs.

  5. Children nowadays are really exposed to so many wordly vices and evils. It is a sad reality that we parents must face and accept so we can lay the proper foundation for our own children. If our kids grow up with Jesus in their hearts and deeply rooted in faith, we have assurance that they will make the right choices when they grow up.

  6. couldn't agree more, we should instill Christian values to our youngsters…kasi eventually they will meet friends that might be bad influence but if he has a good foundation he'll get though those situations…

  8. I used to like going to "Sunday school". The way our teacher taught us the word of the bible is really interesting, even at a young age. Plus we always look forward to the yummy bread snacks at the end of each class. I don't think Catholic church have that.

  9. that's the reason why i still insist getting my kids into a Chatholic school. If ever i'll have my short-comings, there are still people who can guide them.

  10. In my opinion it should start with the parents. Parents must first know how to obey and love God before they can instill it to their children.

  11. Good manners start at home. Ika nga nila kung ano ang puno sya ring bunga. But that does not apply all the time. Parents should be considerate on their child as well. And if ever na they follow God for sure their kids will do the same thing. Basta on our end as elderly set a good example for them and involve them on our church activity.http://mutualfundphilippines.com
