Kamusta, we are the HALTOM family, Joshua, Lady Lyn and Abigail, residents of Bahayang, Pag-asa in Imus, Cavite. We are aware that recognizing the vital role of knowledge and information it is declared a national policy of Philippine government, poised to promote the moral and intellectual well-being of the people by elevating the literacy level of every Filipino. We share this vision and have already begun to reach out to the local community with an interactive gathering, where we gave away some children’s books, The ABC’s of Jesus’ Resurrection, and also several Tagalog Bibles. We had too, for this event which we called Teach Them Well, an interactive workshop after which the children took home the non-toxic clay that we all made together.
We have noticed that there is no local reading center or library in the community we are living, in response to Republic Act 7743, we hereby ask for facilitation in raising the quality of life for our neighbors and for the peoples as a whole. Our intention is to access the Donate-A-Book Program for the above mentioned causes. Like Children’s board books, paperback, or hard bound (fiction and non-fiction). As well as Educational reading materials for parents and adults to elevate their knowledge and themselves be equipped in teaching the children and the community at large.
Our mission to raise the quality of life family to family, community to community, building with Pray, Care, Share.
Our vision “Never doubt that a small group of committed and passionate people can change the world. Indeed, that is the only thing that ever has.” –Margaret Mead
In our observations, Children learn directly from adults, and then from each other. Quality and quantity time, and support, love, and encouragement are vital to a child’s social and emotional stability.
“We did not inherit this earth from our ancestors. We have borrowed it from our children.” –Native American Proverb
“Teach them to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.”-Deuteronomy 11:19
If you are prompted to support this community development and you would like to donate books, we say a big thank you and please get in touch with us here. To God be the glory.
This far along the journey, we are praying to develop a productive relationship with the City Library of Imus, in the Province of Cavite, Philippines. We are thankful to Ms. Rosena V. Roman, Imus City Librarian for her enthusiastic response and to the wonderful-kind hearted Ms. Charlot Cachuela and Director for Program Ms. Noreen Parafina who were behind the quick response resulting to Museo Pambata Book Donation.
